This was our first Floyd Bennett Crit this year and second overall. We wanted to race more but couldn’t because of Road and Track Nationals.
This time around they had a junior field which was awesome! Devin and Gus from Verge were in it. Our teammates Julian and Justin were at Floyd too; Julian did the Cat 5 and Justin raced the P1/2/3 field. We also saw Coach Alan and others from Dave Jordan.
The junior field had 14 riders and we wrote four laps for about 15km. The race started off really slow until the last lap; on the first corner of the homestretch Gus from Verge attacked with the tailwind coming into the headwind, making it hard to catch up. I, Ari, came in seventh and Max finished 11th; all the result of this race are here.
Here are some things we are trying to remember for Floyd. Watch the wind and stay out of it, high cadence into the wind, stay out of the grass areas, avoid potholes, and have fun. In general, Max and I need to find a way to keep the average speed high in races which suits us better.
