Star Track Cycling at Central Park Road Race 25 Mar 2023

Max, and I raced the CRCA Club Race in Central Park, New York. This was our first CRCA Club Race. The race was long, hilly, windy, hard, and FUN! Max raced in the C field (Cat 5) and I raced in B (Cat 3/4).

It was so awesome that we got timing chips, never had any. We received the chips at the registration and they were used to track where we were in the race and what place we got. It seemed very professional!

We pinned our numbers and started our warm-up on the course. The course was very long and we had no choice but to ride it to warm-up. Fortunately, we could take a few short cuts. Max and I arrived 1 minute before the race and our starting positions were at the back.

My race started off on the downhill section and was pretty easy. We were cruising at 50 km/h. Towards the end of the second lap, after the big hill, I got dropped. Max got dropped in the same spot as I did. Then I basically time-trialed 32 km to the finish. By the time I finished the race most of the riders were done. Max and my legs were aching. At least we didn’t get last! I got 53rd/65th and Max got 36th/ 39th.

Next time I will race the C field and the goal is to not get dropped.
