Today Max, our Star Track teammate Dani, and I raced the final CRCA club race in Central Park! I came into to the race with mixed feelings. Excited to race and sad the series was about to come to an end. Max raced the C field (Cat 5) and Dani and I raced the B field (Cat 4).
My race was a fast 5 laps for a total of about 50 km and I averaged a speed of 41.4 km/h per Strava. Dani and I stayed towards the front and we fought well for position. The race came down to a field sprint and I finished 20th/47. Unfortunately there was a crash right during the final sprint. One guy went straight into a tree – hope he’s ok.
Max had a 4-lap race for a total of about 40 km. His race was fast and he was hanging in tight with the field but on the last lap he got dropped unfortunately because of an E-biker in the middle of the road that he had to avoid. It was on the very narrow technical section of the course and he could no longer catch up to the field. Like he always does, he finished off the race with a strong sprint.
